Grants |
Grants (grants-in-aid) are non-proprietary financial support for research and research-related activities in a particular subject area or field. Grants are normally awarded by sponsors whose purpose in supporting research is scientific, cultural, or philanthropic. Increasingly, private-sector organizations will award grants to sustain a higher level of activity and training in a field of interest to them, as well as to increase the probability of results of potential commercial interest. Applications for research grants are normally submitted by investigators to public (and some private) granting bodies.

How do I get a small business grant?
The U.S. Small Business Administration does not offer grants to start or expand small businesses, although it does offer a wide variety of loan programs. While SBA does offer some grant programs, these are generally designed to expand and enhance organizations that provide small business management, technical, or financial assistance. These grants generally support non-profit organizations, intermediary lending institutions, and state and local governments. For more information, visit the SBA Grants section.
